Is counselling right for me?

It can sometimes feel daunting to take the first step to reach out. Please get in touch by email or phone for a no-obligation chat if you think that would help. If you do decide to start counselling you are free to change your mind at any time. 

How much will I pay for counselling?

Counselling sessions last 50 minutes (this may vary for children depending on age and ability) and cost £50. Payment is in advance of each session, by bank transfer. Cancellation of a session is possible up to 24 hours in advance, cancellations made after that time are subject to charge at the normal session rate. 

How many sessions will I have?

Counselling can be short term or long term, depending on the needs of the client. A minimum of six sessions might be suggested, but the number of sessions is reviewed on an ongoing basis, and is not fixed or binding. Sessions are usually weekly.  

Where are sessions held?

Counselling sessions are usually held online via Zoom, or by telephone. Face-to-face sessions can be arranged and are usually held at a comfortable and confidential meeting venue in Lincoln. 

Can someone come with me?

Someone can accompany you but not into the actual counselling session, counselling is a one to one therapy. The exception is for children who might find it reassuring to be accompanied for all or part of the first session by a familiar adult.

Are sessions confidential?

Sessions are completely confidential unless there is an evident risk of harm to the client or others which the counsellor is obliged to report on, in an appropriate way. 


Counsellors have regular supervision, away from sessions and with appropriate professionals, during which client caseloads are discussed. Identifying names are not used. Also, counsellors often keep session notes but these are always kept in a secure locked cabinet, and are only identifiable using code numbers, not names.
